We are accustomed to seeing a small field in the Charlie Hall Chase (2.58) and that seems likely to happen once more. That said, bookmakers are dangling a carrot in front of punters by offering three places for ante-post wagers.
Conflated, Gerri Colombe and Hewick are slated for Down Royal, while connections of Iroko prefer Sunday’s Colin Parker at Carlisle. That race is also an option for Grey Dawning if conditions dry out at Wetherby, while Dashel Drasher and Flegmatik have alternative engagements on Saturday that seem likelier destinations.
With such a wide range of potential absentees, the door is open for Bravemansgame to get his career back on track, with his chief market rival Grey Dawning’s price arguably on the skinny side on this quicker terrain.
