'The extra furlong can bring further improvement in what promises to be the juvenile race of the season'
Robbie Wilders with his early take on the weekend action
This is surely one of the deepest runnings of Saturday's William Hill Futurity Trophy (2.40 Doncaster) in a long time. In a normal year Wimbledon Hawkeye, who is rated 114 on BHA figures, would have a reasonable chance of being sent off a short-priced favourite. Yet he is 7-2 with most firms.
He looked out of the top drawer when dealing with Royal Playwright in the Royal Lodge, building on an excellent second to 2,000 Guineas and Derby favourite The Lion In Winter in a red-hot Acomb Stakes in which the juvenile track record disappeared at York.
Plenty of others arrive with excellent profiles. Tattersalls Stakes winner Delacroix keeps progressing for Aidan O'Brien, who is looking to add to his record 11 victories in the race. So does Jessica Harrington's tough Beresford scorer Hotazhell, while John and Thady Gosden have two unbeaten juveniles in Detain and Nebras.
