The Ayr Gold Cup is quite the conundrum - but this horse needs to be on your radar
Sorting through 183 entries for the Ayr Gold Cup is an overwhelming task for ante-post punters. That said, it probably shouldn't as a large portion of these will run in the Silver and Bronze Cups earlier at the meeting.
Realistically, if you're lower than 40th on the list your chances of making the final 25 for the big one are slim. The top of the handicap is where to concentrate on, and if you're having an ante-post wager then playing your selection win-only is advised in a race bookies will doubtless be offering six and seven places for on the day. Only four can be snapped up at this stage.
Bettors should essentially be looking for a Group horse in a handicap given the race's high ceiling and compressed nature. Before Significantly captured the 2023 running, the previous nine Racing Post Ratings allotted to the winner never dipped below 110.
