The Betfred St Leger almost looked a lost cause for the home team until You Got To Me was supplemented on Monday. Purely on adjusted Racing Post Ratings, you would give her every chance of stopping the Aidan O'Brien bandwagon.
Assuming Irish Champion Stakes-bound Los Angeles sticks to that plan, You Got To Me is technically the best in here with her sex allowance. However, the Ralph Beckett-trained filly can be a free-goer and her stamina for the trip is unproven. Three formidable opponents from Ballydoyle stand in her way.
With Ryan Moore on duty at Leopardstown, Wayne Lordan is set to ride Illinois and that makes sense. Lordan was aboard when Illinois gave Los Angeles a fright in the Great Voltigeur and that race is traditionally a strong pointer towards Doncaster.
