'We want to sit at the top table' - Joe Tizzard dreaming big with young squad

Joe Tizzard has exceeded his own high standards since taking over from father Colin at the start of the season and, with a third of his stable occupied by young, unraced talent, he believes the yard is primed to take on the best again after a quiet few years.

Difficulties came after the tragic death of Kim Gingell, daughter of Colin and a hugely valuable member of the family business, in May 2020, with the yard enduring a particularly poor season which was also affected by a bug in the yard.

Yet the Tizzards bounced back in style last season and a transition period was marked by plans of a licence handover at the start of this campaign and the promotion of two talented assistant trainers, Chris Wald and Amanda Hibbs.
