'Hopefully we have a fairly unexposed second-season hurdler on our hands' - Harry Fry joins our expert panel

1. It’s the Betfair Chase (3.05) at Haydock. Who wins the big one?

Tom Bull, Racing TV Haydock's local meteorological station has been busy warning everyone there's going to be an inundation of rain, and that will change the dimensions of the race considerably. Grey Dawning is the up-and-comer and will appreciate any give, as will last year's winner Royale Pagaille. However, the behemoth of a mare that is Limerick Lace gets my vote. She's a powerful galloper who will surely be suited by the track, and a three-mile-plus test in soft ground is exactly what she wants. She was the stand-out chasing mare last season and should be even better now she is approaching eight years of age. Receiving weight from the geldings, there's a lot in her favour.

Harry Fry, trainer Grey Dawning was brilliant in the Turners at Cheltenham last season. He's a Grade 1-winning novice and if there's a potential Gold Cup horse in the field it has to be him. We know where the rest of them are, but he's the one with the most untapped potential. Conditions should be going more and more in his favour as the day goes on, too.

Ryan McCue, Betfair If the rain arrives in time I think Limerick Lace has a big each-way shout. She has age on her side and outside of Grey Dawning, who could improve plenty this season, I think the rest of the field are very beatable. She ran a big race in last season's Troytown on slow ground, so if it did turn soft that would only enhance her chances.
