Sir Gino's chase debut performance puts him in elite company, so where does it rank?
Sir Gino is the new Arkle favourite and it is easy to see why following his impressive success in the Wayward Lad Novices' Chase at Kempton.
There was little to split him and his main rival, Grade 1-winning hurdler Ballyburn heading into one of the clashes of the season, but the writing was on the wall turning out of the back straight, with Sir Gino travelling and jumping noticeably better under Nico de Boinville.
He scored by an eased down seven and a half lengths and in the process provisionally achieved a career-best Racing Post Rating of 166+ on his first start over fences, while the Willie Mullins-trained Ballyburn improved on his comfortable chase debut last month with an RPR of 158.
