Competitive without looking a vintage Ladbrokes King George VI Chase was the pre-race consensus and, with no horse taking a RPR in excess of 170 into the race and, with just 7lb covering all bar two of the 11-strong field, the figures backed up that view.

In the event two horses pulled well clear of their rivals, both recording RPRs at least on a par with the ten-year-average winning RPR for the race of 173.

Tackling three miles for the first time over fences and under rules, Banbridge (174+) rates a good winner of the race.
