Lester Piggott is to sell 70 trophies won by himself and his family over the past 130 years in an online auction which takes place next month.

The lots, which are expected to net around £80,000, include two of Piggott's record 11 Derby-winning trophies, which are themselves expected to make £5,000-£7,000 each.

Likely to top those, however, is a silver trophy presented to Lester's grandfather Ernie Piggott for winning the 1919 Grand National on Poethlyn which has a guide price of £8,000-£10,000.

Also in the same price bracket is a silver cup awarded to the jockey's father Keith after he trained Ayala to land the Grand National in 1963.

Going even further back, there is a silver trophy awarded to Piggott's great grandfather Tom Cannon to mark his retirement as a jockey in 1892 which is ticketed at £1,500-£2,500.

More recently, Piggott is also to auction the silver trophies he was awarded for winning the 2,000 Guineas on Shadeed (1985) and Rodrigo De Triano (1992) which are expected to make £1,500 -£2,000 each.

The Graham Budd Sporting Memorabilia Auction is to be conducted online only for three days from November 9.

Auctioneer Budd said: “Like the thoroughbreds, Lester comes with impeccable racing pedigree. The auction includes objects spanning five generations of the family. It is a remarkable line of success. We have items from himself, his father, his grandfather and his great grandfather so it's a remarkable collection."

He added: "Among the treasures are the jockey’s trophy for the 1919 Grand National won by Lester's grandfather Ernie on Poethlyn, Lester’s two gold jockeys’ prizes for winning the 1957 Derby on Crepello and on St Paddy in 1960. There are also two Newmarket Town Plates won by his mother Iris Rickaby as well as a bit of whimsy, the 1955 Devizes Donkey Derby trophy."

Budd added: "Selling them at a specialist sport sale means they will go to real enthusiasts who have a chance to buy themselves a real piece of sporting history."

The lots can be found under the forthcoming auction section www.grahambuddauctions.co.uk
