Trevor Hemmings, one of the most successful owners in jump racing, is set to dramatically reduce his string of horses in training with the three-time Grand National winner citing the impact of the coronavirus pandemic as a driving factor in his shock decision.

Around 50 of his horses in training are to be sold without reserve at the Goffs UK September Sale, which takes place in Doncaster on September 15 and 16. Among the lots due to be offered are classy performers such as Touch Kick, Mystical Clouds and Stoney Mountain.

Hemmings said: "After 36 years of being a racehorse owner I have made the difficult decision to significantly reduce the number of horses I have in training. I will keep around 25 runners but the rest are to be sold.
