Too Darn Hot Guineas decision to be made this weekend as doubts continue

A decision over the participation of Too Darn Hot in next month's Qipco 2,000 Guineas is to be made at the weekend or early next week, with the unbeaten colt increasingly easy to back for the first Classic of the season.

From being even money for the Newmarket showpiece before the setback that ruled him out of last weekend's Greenham Stakes, the John Gosden-trained son of Dubawi was pushed out to as big as 9-4 on Tuesday afternoon amid persistent doubts about his participation.

Too Darn Hot was found to have a splint problem at evening stables after his final pre-Newbury spin last Wednesday and has been confined to trotting and light exercise since then.

The Andrew Lloyd Webber-owned colt would need to return to the working grounds in the next week or so if he is to have any chance of making the 2,000 Guineas.

Gosden said on Tuesday: "We'll see how we are over the next few days with Too Darn Hot. We'll make a decision over the weekend or early next week as to his participation in the 2,000 Guineas."

The Aidan O'Brien-trained pair of Ten Sovereigns and Magna Grecia are the nearest rivals to Too Darn Hot as far as the 2,000 Guineas market is concerned, with both available at 6-1 on Tuesday.
