Six runners at Cheltenham – including Gold Cup hope Edwulf – might be Joseph O'Brien's main focus, but nothing the trainer runs at Dundalk ought to be readily dismissed and top rider Wayne Lordan is booked for this three-year-old, who ran at the track only on Monday. Fourth on that occasion, the son of Requinto – whom Lordan won two Group races on – appears to have Ishigati to beat, but may be open to improvement stepping up to a mile.

Connections might have had aspirations for jump racing's most important week when acquiring this two-time Flat winner from a Shadwell dispersal, but the former William Haggas inmate has been well beaten on her two starts over hurdles. She is switched back to the all-weather tonight from a mark just 2lb higher than what she last won off and rising apprentice Nicola Currie is booked to ride.

Conor O'Dwyer will never forget this day as 12 years ago he was partnering War Of Attrition to victory in the Cheltenham Gold Cup. Now a trainer, he will be eyeing a less prestigious prize, but one he will be eager to land nonetheless. In Jon Ess, he has a course winner who was beaten when stepped up to a mile last time, but should be on the premises as he meets Beach Bar on better terms.
