Three horses it could pay to follow at Chelmsford
As the nights draw in, all-weather evening action will become customary fare, and here are three to note at Chelmsford...
Emilia James 5.45
In a competitive nursery it might be worth taking a chance on the Mark Johnston-trained filly as she drops down in grade after having her sights raised on her last two starts.
After finishing last in the Queen Mary, the daughter of Poet's Voice was sent off 2-1 favourite in a conditions race at Baden-Baden but again came up short.
However, her early-season form was promising and she was a decisive winner over course and distance in June so she has proved herself under the conditions.
Regal Gait 6.15
Since joining Harry Whittington Regal Gait has finished out of the first two only once, and both his career victories have been achieved at this track.
Not seen since April, the four-year-old has gone up 6lb for his last win, but can go well fresh. He made a winning debut for Whittington last October having been off since June.
Diptych 8.45
When horses make their handicap debut for Sir Mark Prescott they can find plenty of improvement, and this filly looks a potential candidate to do just that.
She did not cut much ice in two starts over 6f and one over 7f, but is related to winners at a mile and beyond, and steps up to 1m2f this evening.
Prescott has a 21 per cent strike-rate (nine from 43) with three-year-olds at the course in the last five seasons.
