Talented King Of Comedy departs John Gosden to join Jessica Harrington
Talented four-year-old King Of Comedy will continue his racing career in Ireland after being transferred from trainer John Gosden to join Jessica Harrington's ever-growing Flat squad.
Last year's Juddmonte International Stakes fourth has not won since cruising to victory in the Listed Heron Stakes at Sandown in May 2019, but connections are hoping a change of location can help the Kingman colt, owned by Lady Bamford, rediscover his very best form.
"We thought a change to Irish racing might suit him. A change of scenery could be good for him," said a representative for the owner, whose classy Andre Fabre-trained three-year-old Tropbeau finished second to Earthlight at Longchamp on Sunday.
The 112-rated performer has had just two starts this season and finished second to Century Dream in the rescheduled Diomed Stakes at Newbury.
However, the three-time winner failed to fire when last seen in July, trailing the Sky Bet York Stakes field when racing alone on the stands' side.
"He's a horse with potential," said the representative. "We have no immediate plans for him, Jessica is just getting to know him for the time being."
Harrington enjoyed a fruitful Irish Champions Weekend, landing the Group 2 KPMG Champions Juvenile Stakes with exciting prospect Cadillac before Cayenne Pepper returned to her best to take the Group 2 Moyglare 'Jewels' Blandford Stakes.
