Sussex-bound? Earthlight team keeping Goodwood option open for unbeaten star
Goodwood's Sussex Stakes is already a star-studded affair but it could get even hotter after Andre Fabre decided to add his unbeaten three-year-old Earthlight to the Group 1 entries.
The English and Irish 2,000 Guineas winners Kameko and Siskin along with impressive Summer Mile scorer Mohaather are others likely to take their chance in what could be a vintage running of the mile contest next Wednesday.
Owned by Godolphin, Earthlight remains unbeaten in six starts and already has two Group 1s to his name with one coming on his sole British foray in the Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket in September.
A tilt at the 2,000 Guineas had been mooted by connections but a spring setback saw the son of Shamardal held back until making an effortless reappearance to win in Listed company at Deauville earlier this month.
Godolphin's representative in France, Lisa-Jane Graffard, said: "He was entered this morning. This is just the next step towards making a decision about whether he'll run but the decision has not been made yet."
If appearing at Goodwood, Earthlight will be tested for the first time over a mile with all six of his runs having come at no further than six furlongs.
Graffard added: "Andre has said the race is one of the options and I'm sure he will want to see the rest of the entries before we make a final call."

Mohaather 5-2
Kameko 3-1
Circus Maximus 6-1
Pinatubo 7-1
Wichita 8-1
