Siyarafina to miss French 1,000 Guineas after failing to sparkle in gallop

One of the likely favourites for Sunday's Emirates Poule d'Essai des Pouliches, Siyarafina, will not be travelling to Longchamp after failing to satisfy connections in a gallop on Tuesday morning.

The Aga Khan's daughter of Pivotal entered the Classic reckoning when making it two wins from as many starts in a Longchamp conditions race last month, after which trainer Alain de Royer-Dupre suggested the plan would be to supplement her for the French version of the 1,000 Guineas.

But after overseeing her final turf gallop on Les Aigles in Chantilly on Tuesday morning, Royer-Dupre has decided Siyarafina will not take her chance in the €500,000 contest.

"She wasn't as good as I'd hoped this morning and she won't run on Sunday," said Royer-Dupre.

Closely related to the Aga's stallion Siyouni, Siyarafina came from behind to win her maiden by three lengths at Saint-Cloud on April 4.

Less than three weeks later she showed a similar turn of foot to easily dispose of her rivals in the Prix du Louvre over the course and distance of the Pouliches at Longchamp.

Siyarafina holds entries in the Saxon Warrior Coolmore Prix Saint-Alary and the Prix de Diane Longines.

The first forfeit stage for the first colts' and fillies' Classics of the French season is on Tuesday morning, with the supplementary stage on Thursday and final declarations coming on Friday.
