Shloer repeat next on the agenda for Cheltenham queen Put The Kettle On
Put The Kettle On will head straight to the Shloer Chase next month where the Champion Chase heroine will bid to make it five wins from as many starts at her beloved Cheltenham.
The seven-year-old mare was due to make her seasonal reappearance in the PWC Champion Chase at Gowran Park last Saturday, but was a late absentee from the contest won by Royal Rendezvous as trainer Henry de Bromhead felt the ground was on the lively side for her.
Put The Kettle On will instead return to her happiest hunting ground next month to put her unbeaten course record on the line at Cheltenham in the Grade 2 – a race she won last year by a length and a quarter from Duc Des Genievres.
De Bromhead said: "She goes straight to Cheltenham for the Shloer. That has always been her early-season aim and it makes perfect sense to head straight there. We all know how much she loves the place and her record there is unbelievable. She won the race last year and it fits nicely into her schedule.
"It was a tough call to take her out on Saturday but I just felt it was better being on the safe side. She's in great form, brilliant actually, and we've been thrilled with her over the last few weeks. We'll get her ready for Cheltenham next month now and take it from there."
The Knockeen-based trainer has three entries in Sunday's JT McNamara Ladbrokes Munster National at Limerick, the most eyecatching of which is former Troytown Chase winner Chris's Dream, who ran in the Grand National won by stablemate Minella Indo in April when last seen.
Chris's Dream has top weight in the €100,000 event but De Bromhead said he is unlikely to take his chance and it will be left to stablemates Spyglass Hill and Cavalry Master to fly the flag for the trainer, who won the race in 2015 with Sadler's Risk.
Cavalry Master has won his last four starts and is an intended runner.
De Bromhead said: "I would say the Munster National might come a little too soon for Chris's Dream and we might wait a bit longer to bring him back out. Cavalry Master and Spyglass Hill will both run, I'd imagine."
