Shishkin delivers £10,000 monthly Ten To Follow prize for Fantastico Lobos
Shishkin sealed victory in the January Tote Ten To Follow competition for Fantastico Lobos 3 and with it a £10,000 prize.
As a red-hot favourite, Shishkin may not have brought much in the way of Tote return extra points but the 21.1 points he posted at Doncaster could not have been delivered in smoother style. Although 20,790 stables benefited, the win was decisive for Fantastico Lobos who had also picked up points through Next Destination, Envoi Allen, Bob Olinger and Allaho last month.
Fantastico Lobos ended the month on 111.14 points, giving them a 2.92 points victory over Laytown 3 and Nerd Immunity.
Shishkin's success takes his points tally to 53.30 and puts him in seventh in the table of top performers, four places behind Colreevy, who is now on 67.82 after putting in a faultless performance at Thurles in the Grade 2 Mares Novice Chase.
Also in action at Thurles, Allaho returned to emphatic form in the Grade 2 Horse & Jockey Hotel Chase for 22.62 points. He is now joint-favourite for the Ryanair at Cheltenham and could easily return to Ireland with bonus points for the 5,931 players who have him in their stables.
At Gowran Park, Sams Profile returned 30.4 points in the Grade 2 John Mulhern Galmoy Hurdle. He was the highest-scoring horse of the week but with just 28 stables benefiting from the result.
There will have been similar delight that Naas was able to take place on Sunday when Paul Townend and Willie Mullins produced Bachasson to win the Grade 3 Limestone Lad Hurdle for 17.82 points.
When the weather is bad the Venetia Williams string rises up out of the mud and that was seen again as Ibleo shook off The Big Bite at Doncaster to win 13.2 points for 29 stables, taking his season's total to 28.1. The Ryanair and Champion Chase are among the mooted targets at the Cheltenham Festival in six weeks.
The next bonus races are at this weekend's Dublin Racing Festival at Leopardstown, with the Irish Champion Hurdle and Irish Gold Cup.
