'She's on a winnable mark' - Ed Walker hoping Capriolette can boost course form

This is an instance where the ratings band of the runners may underplay the competitiveness of the race. There are more improvers in this line-up than might be expected of a 0-70 handicap in February.

Naturally, the obviously progressive have risen to the top of the market. Stopnsearch has run arguably the two best races of his life upped to this trip the last twice, which is perhaps no surprise given he is from the family of Manduro. Last time, he went down narrowly to Noble Peace, who returns to a mile in the 2.35.

Capla Crusader is less progressive than well treated and he remains so on his best form after nicking a race over course and distance a fortnight ago. It is logical to link his upturn in fortunes to a stable switch, this will be his third start for Chris Dwyer. A dispassionate reading of his last win suggests his revival will need to accelerate now he has been put up 7lb.

Capla Crusader made all from stall two last time and is not so favourably drawn here, in stall seven of ten. Convertible made most of the running in Stopnsearch's race last time and is drawn on the inside. He can miss the kick but tends to be up there if not, which puts Ryan Moore in a potentially favourable position.

Positive mention is given to Amsby, whose previous run here a year ago worked out favourably. Winner Group One Power was pitched into good handicaps after and shaped well, while the third and fourth both won handicaps next time off 70 and 65, respectively.

He is rated only 69 and would have to come on for his return from over nine months off in December. His SP of 14-1 that day suggests something had been left to work on. By Sir Percy out of mare who placed over as far as 1m6f, he should thrive over this trip and further.

He got robbed right on the line there last time so hopefully can make amends. He has a decent draw in stall two and Capla Crusader looks the one to beat as he won well there last time.

Hugo Palmer, trainer of Convertible
He had the worst of the draw last time and couldn't get any cover so hopefully he can get a better sit from stall one this time. He likes Lingfield and should be thereabouts although he has been beaten twice off this mark already.

Chris Dwyer, trainer of Capla Crusader
He won nicely over course and distance last time and has come out of that in great shape. This looks a deeper race and he's up in the weights but he should give a good account.

Hugo Palmer: trainer of Convertible

James Eustace, trainer of Amsby
It looks a competitive race and it just depends if he knows enough for his first run in a handicap. He's up in trip which will suit and he's a nice horse going forward.

Ed Walker, trainer of Capriolette
She likes Lingfield but we made a bit much use of her over this trip last time she ran there so we may ride her more patiently this time around. She's on a winnable mark.

Robyn Brisland, trainer of Compass Point
The race wasn't run to suit him at all there last time and he got bumped at the start. He goes well for lightweights so hopefully Callum Hutchinson, who rides well, can get on well with him.
