Irish racing's long wait for the introduction of sectional timing technology appears to be moving a step closer to being resolved, with Horse Racing Ireland trialling new processes for recording sectional information at this week's Dundalk fixtures.

Having signed a valuable five-year media rights contract with HRI back in 2016, SIS announced it would implement new in-running GPS tracking technology at every Irish track, initially set to be in place for January 2017.

However, the rollout has been delayed since, with SIS's initial efforts at implementing the technology reportedly unsuccessful and progress slow.
