Connections of Growl were not the only ones celebrating when the seven-year-old rolled back the years to land a photo-finish thriller in the Silver Trophy at Ripon, with the verdict leading to one punter trousering a massive £458,409 payout in the Scoop6.

Last week the same person pocketed in excess of £50,000 to take their haul to a huge £510,672.

Totepool spokesperson Mark Pearson said: "Congratulations to this punter who has taken their winnings to over half a million pounds, but they must have had a few very nervous moments until the official result of the photo was called."

Meanwhile, Saturday's win fund did not get past Leg 5 in the 3.20 at Newmarket. The win fund of £47,379 will roll to the first day of the Ebor Festival at York on Wednesday.

There were 17 winners of the place fund, who each scooped £803.80.
