Royal Ascot big bets: punter puts £110,000 on Bay Bridge in Prince of Wales's
Bay Bridge remains a short-priced favourite for the Prince of Wales's Stakes (3.40) and one punter is so confident he has bet £110,000 at 10-11 with Star Sports on the impressive Brigadier Gerard winner.
The four-year-old is available at 10-11 generally after winning by five lengths at Sandown for Sir Michael Stoute and will take on four top rivals including Sheema Classic winner Shahryar and Lord North.
Star Sports also reported a significant bet on Love Reigns in the Queen Mary Stakes (2.30), with one punter staking £40,000 on the Wesley Ward-trained sprinter at 11-4. She is disputing favouritism with Dramatised, who won by four lengths on her Newmarket debut.
"We came out level on day one and have laid two big bets today," said the firm's Ed Dark. "Love Reigns won well on her debut and we've laid her at 11-4. The biggest bet has been on Bay Bridge. He was impressive last time but he's taking on some proper horses."
On Tuesday, Star Sports laid a £15,000 bet on Persian Force, who finished second behind Bradsell at 3-1 in the Coventry and laid £60,000 on the Coroebus and Baaeed double, which came in.
Paddy Power has also reported some support for Bay Bridge, who has been backed into 5-6 from 10-11, and spokesman Paul Binfield said: "Bay Bridge was a revelation during his Classic season and he built on that to win the Brigadier Gerard in truly impressive fashion.
"Despite being odds-on, he's the one that punters want with trainer Sir Michael Stoute silencing any doubters that he may have had with his recent sensational Derby success."
Meanwhile, Ladbrokes reported there is little to split Dramatised and Love Reigns in the Queen Mary, and both have been backed into 5-2.
