Sunday's Cork meeting is off with track waterlogged in places; Exeter to inspect
The impact of Storm Bert has caused Cork's Sunday jumps fixture to be cancelled with the track waterlogged in places.
The track received in excess of 45mm of rainfall in a 24-hour spell up to Saturday morning and further rain, in addition to more in the forecast, left no feasible chance of improvement.
Paul Moloney, IHRB clerk of the course, said on Saturday evening: "Following further showers this afternoon, unfortunately the situation at Cork has got worse and more parts of the track are now completely waterlogged.
"With further rain forecast this evening and no prospects of enough improvement ahead of racing tomorrow, we have been left with no option but to cancel the fixture.
"We will liaise with Horse Racing Ireland regarding the possibility of rescheduling this meeting at some time following our Hilly Way Chase fixture on December 8."
Exeter inspection announced
Sunday's card at Exeter is subject to a raceday inspection at 7am due to the threat of high winds and further rain.
The ground is soft despite 28mm of rain up to 5pm on Saturday, with a further 25 to 35mm possible.
Jobar funeral announced
The funeral of former jockey Steve Jobar will take place at St Swithun's Church, Wickham, near Newbury, on Monday, December 2, at 1pm.
Jobar, winner of the 1980 Triumph Hurdle aboard Heighlin, died this month after living bravely with motor neurone disease for a long period of time.
No flowers are requested but donations to the Reading and West Berkshire branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association would be appreciated. These can be made here.
