Win Some Lose Some lived up to his name by following up a loss with a victory for the third time in a row when he pounced fast and late in the 2m3½f handicap hurdle to kick off a double for trainer Padraig Roche and owner JP McManus.

The five-year-old was well supported into 10-3 favouritism, but his backers would have had a few anxious moments entering the straight as Mark Walsh was hard at work in fourth and the pair weren't going anywhere fast. However, he began to pick up nicely after scrambling over the penultimate flight and blasted past runner-up Old Bill Barley when switched out after the last to score by three-quarters of a length.

Walsh said: "The ground went for him the last day at Listowel, he hated it. These were ideal conditions. We went no gallop and it turned into a sprint. He takes time to warm into it, but he sparked up going down to the second-last. He's a good-ground horse."

Roche and McManus completed their double when Birdsandthebees followed up and again justified favouritism for the owner and trainer in the closing 2m1f handicap chase, as the 18-5 chance was guided home under by 7lb claimer Peter Smithers.

Shecouldbeanything wins again

Sam Ewing steered Shecouldbeanything to her ninth success in the 2m2½f mares' chase, justifying 4-6 favouritism in the three-runner field.

The prolific seven-year-old tracked her main market rival Space Tourist throughout and the pair had it between them entering the straight. Ewing's mount then shrugged her off approaching the final fence where she put in an agile leap before romping to a five-length success.
