Not for the first time, William Haggas landed both Listed races on the card, kicking off with a remarkable fifth win in the River Eden EBF Fillies Stakes in which Sea Theme charted a winning course under Billy Loughnane.

The well-backed 6-5 chance, from 2-1 in the morning, took advantage of a massive drop in class from Group 1 company when kicking off the home turn in the 1m5f contest to hold the late surge of outsider Beeley.

A daughter of Sea The Stars, Sea Theme was last seen finishing an honourable seventh behind Kalpana in the British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes at Ascot last month.

Held up off a pace set by her main rival Madame Celeste, Sea Theme was always well placed to defy a penalty she had picked up for winning at the same level in France in July.

Bruce Raymond, racing manager to successful owner Sheikh Juma Dalmook Al Maktoum, said: "She did that nicely but was entitled to win like that. She's now won three Listed races and she'll be five in a few weeks, so there's a possibility she will be retired to the paddocks but we'll have a chat with the owner."

No gloom for Doom

Haggas doubled up 33 minutes later when Doom landed her second win at Listed level in the Fleur De Lys EBF Fillies' Stakes in even more impressive fashion.

The daughter of Breeders' Cup winner Dank made just her second outing on the all-weather a successful one under Rossa Ryan when accounting for Irish raider Improvista.

If she was to stay in training, Doom could bid to extend a remarkable sequence for Haggas in the mile contest. He has won back-to-back runnings previously with Muffri'Ha (2016/17) and Queen Aminatu (2022/23).

Ton up for Hutchinson

Callum Hutchinson moved on to a century of career winners in fitting fashion when steering Sun Dancer Girl home for his boss, Andrew Balding, in the opening 1m4f fillies handicap.

The 11-2 came from well off a strong pace set by Turner Girl to put favourite Glimmer Of Light in the shade.
