At Punchestown on Tuesday, Gordon Elliott did something he hadn't done for exactly 199 days. He went racing.

Not since the final Saturday in February, when Prevaricate finished fifth in a Fairyhouse bumper, had Elliott set foot on a racecourse. It was that evening when his self-inflicted fall from grace began as the shocking image of him sitting on a dead horse began to circulate on social media.

More than six months on, Elliott admitted he was wary of the reaction he would face, yet the response from racegoers seemed mainly positive.
