High Season got off the mark at the third time of asking when running out an impressive winner of the 7f novice for trainer Charlie Johnston.

The two-year-old, who finished down the field in the Convivial Maiden Stakes at York last month, was the only runner to race on the far side under Connor Beasley and those tactics paid off when he finished five and a half lengths clear of Last Galileo, who is entered in the Futurity Trophy.

"He's a colt we've always liked," said Johnston. "He ran well on debut but he was quite green. We then threw him in at the deep end in the Convivial last time. It was no surprise to see him win impressively like that, although I'm not entirely sure quite what the jockeys on our rivals were doing."

The following novice contest was won in similarly convincing fashion by the Andrew Balding-trained Ghaihaban, who made all under Jason Watson to beat 4-9 favourite My Cloud, a €325,000 breeze-up purchase, by two and three-quarter lengths, with 100-1 shot Grovely Belle in third.

Glistening Nights kept on well to score off a career-high mark in the second division of the 1m2f handicap for trainer Richard Fahey and Oisin Orr.

The three-year-old won by a length and a quarter from Titainium for the same combination that landed the Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes on Saturday.

It was her fourth success on her tenth start this year off a mark of 73, having recorded the first of those victories at Wetherby off a mark of 64.
