'We're very much looking forward to the Winter Oaks' - Crisfords hoping to bring up the hat-trick with trial winner Charlotte's Web
Simon and Ed Crisford look well poised for another Winter Oaks success after Charlotte's Web knuckled down to win the £45,000 trial under Sean Dylan Bowen.
The three-year-old topweight, sent off 7-4 favourite, suffered a slow start but fought back to complete a hat-trick with a neck success over the year-older Elladonna. The winner will return to Lingfield on January 18 for the Winter Oaks, which the Crisfords have won for the last two years.
Their 2023 winner Oh So Grand also claimed this trial before her Oaks success and Simon Crisford is hopeful his latest all-weather filly can chart a similar path this winter.
"It was another step forward for her and we're very much looking forward to seeing her back for the Winter Oaks," he said. "It's too early to compare her to our previous winners because she's still improving.
"I hope there's more to come from her, and there will need to be to win next time, but I couldn't be more pleased with her attitude and how she finished her race. Her jockey gave her a very nice ride."
The success was the fourth in a row for the in-form Newmarket yard, which also struck with 25-1 shot Primrose Path in the 7f nursery.
Back in business
Nick Littmoden celebrated his first win since returning to Britain when Monsieur Beaulieu landed the 7f handicap by five lengths.
The Newmarket-based trainer saddled his last British runner in February 2021 before moving to France, where he operated for almost four years before relocating back home this autumn.
He sent out his first runner in October and struck on the seventh attempt with Monsieur Beaulieu, who powered home well clear of Serenity Rose under Ross Coakley.
