'We're hoping he'll make into a Graded novice horse' - Crest Of Fortune continues Anthony Honeyball's fine form
Anthony Honeyball is confident Crest Of Fortune has a bright future after his runaway victory in the 2m4f maiden hurdle.
A winner on his debut in a Wincanton bumper, the four-year-old produced a strong turn of foot to finish six and a half lengths clear of Jaccours on his hurdling debut.
Crest Of Fortune also showed promise when fifth behind Regent's Stroll in a Newbury bumper in March, and Honeyball has high hopes of a successful career.
He said: "We're hoping he'll make into a Graded novice horse. He's gone and done it straight away, so we'll try and look after him now and see what the best sort of programme is for him.
"He's only four, so we don't want to over-face him, but he's a nice horse and his jumping was good enough for us to run him in a nice novice now."
It was Crest Of Fortune's first attempt over two and a half miles and Honeyball, who registered an across-the-card double with Brookie's victory at Sandown, was pleased with what he saw.
He said: "He was quite fresh, but he's straightforward at home and is very relaxed in his work. He'll have learned plenty about being in a bigger field and he's a gorgeous looking horse. Although he did a bit wrong in terms of how keen he was, he came through it like a nice horse and put the race to bed quite soon."
Hat-trick hero
Sean Bowen completed a 494-1 treble that was headlined by Woodie Flash's 8-1 success in the 3m handicap hurdle.
The jockey then followed up with 9-2 shot Lermoos Legend in the 2m handicap chase and 9-1 chance Lady Harriet in the 2m4f novice handicap hurdle for Peter and Michael Bowen.
