Welsh National-winning conditional Caoilin Quinn 'over the moon' to ride out claim after Southwell double
Welsh National-winning conditional Caoilin Quinn rode out his claim after enjoying a double aboard Jolyjump and Icare Grandchamp.
Quinn, who won the Chepstow feature aboard Nassalam last season, steered Jolyjump to a straightforward four-length success in the 2m novice handicap chase and took his record to two from four on Icare Grandchamp with a length-and-a-quarter victory in the 2m4½f handicap chase.
The rider’s two winners were for his bosses Gary and Josh Moore, who he paid credit to for their backing.
Quinn said: “I’m over the moon, and huge thanks must go to Gary and Josh as they have made it happen and have been very supportive.
“We have lots of quality horses and luckily they trust me to ride some of them. The winners have been coming, including on Saturdays, so it’s going better than I could have imagined. Nassalam has been very good to me and hopefully we still have plenty more big days with him.”
On his Southwell winners, Quinn added: “Jolyjump has always looked a nice horse and his jumping was super. Icare Grandchamp is a big horse but appears to like quicker ground. He was so tough and is on the up.”
McLernon doubles up
Richie McLernon rode a double aboard the Anthony Honeyball-trained Dance And Glance in the 2m maiden hurdle and Playtogetaway for Jonjo and AJ O’Neill in the 2m4½f handicap hurdle.
Promising type
Little Watson gained a second win from three starts when landing the bumper for Suzy Smith and conditional Elizabeth Gale by two and a half lengths.
