'We love coming up here' - Patrick Neville delighted after Here Comes Georgie continues hot track form
Cheltenham Festival-winning trainer Patrick Neville's terrific season at the track continued when Here Comes Georgie gamely struck in the 2m handicap hurdle.
The six-year-old was a narrow winner over the course and distance last month and scored again when denying Cuban Cigar by three-quarters of a length. He took Neville's strike-rate at Perth this campaign to 30 per cent.
"He's such a sound horse who likes the track, and we sure like it here too! We love coming up here. It was mighty as we were just touched off in the first," Neville said. "We know he likes the ground, but we might have a go over fences with him."
The victory was a fourth of the season for Neville and he has bettered last campaign's total already. The trainer, whose career highlight came with The Real Whacker's Brown Advisory Novices' Chase success in 2023, is relishing the winter months ahead.
He added: "What we're running is going very well and they've all been thereabouts, but we've still got a couple of really nice ones to get out as well."
Double delight
Jessica Bedi and jockey Aaron Anderson enjoyed a dream 155-1 double when scooping both divisions of the 2m4f handicap hurdle.
The duo struck in a dramatic opening division with 11-1 chance Shantou Lucky before 12-1 veteran Pateen followed up in the second division.
Winning repeat
Wasdell Dundalk repeated his win in the feature 3m handicap chase with a battling success under Danny McMenamin.
He completed a double for McMenamin, who also struck on Luckie Seven in the opening 2m novice hurdle.
