Twilight Madness gains another victory in the colours of the late Peter Hedger
Tuesday: Southwell
Twilight Madness backed up his victory over course and distance four days ago with a narrow success in the 5f handicap under Jason Hart.
It was a poignant victory in the colours of the late Peter Hedger before the former trainer’s funeral on Thursday.
Simon Hodgson, who took over the reins from Hedger in 2020, said: “To be able to win twice in a few days and the funeral be on Thursday is great for the group.
"I took over from Peter a couple of years ago, and he was great to have about. It’s all very connected. The horse winning two in a week has kept Peter in everyone’s thoughts.
“It was Jason who said Twilight Madness has so much natural speed and we should run him over five furlongs.”
Hart reached the century for the year at Chelmsford on Monday and took his domestic tally to 102 by later scoring on Tropez Power for John Quinn in the mile handicap.
Silks strikes at big odds
Silks Pass defied odds of 28-1 in the 7f handicap. It was a first win since May last year for Alice Haynes's recent recruit and secured a 231-1 double for jockey Kieran O'Neill, who landed the 1m6f handicap on the Camilla Poulton-trained Militry Decoration.
