Trainer without a winner in two years before March makes it three in three days with 231-1 double
Ian Duncan, who went more than two years without a winner before a single success last season, brought his tally to three winners in three days with a 231-1 double in the divisions of the 2m3½f handicap hurdle.
Having saddled his first winner since March at Kelso on Saturday, the local trainer continued his good run when Adveram came through the field to break his maiden at 7-1 in the first division under Callum Bewley. The five-year-old, homebred by owners the MacDonald family, is out of their six-time Ayr winner Lochnell.
Just over half an hour later 28-1 shot Celestial Fashion was pushed clear from a prominent position under Conor O'Farrell to win the second division in convincing style.
Duncan is based in the village of Coylton, just five miles from the track, and he told Racing TV: "It's terrific that they've both won. The horses have been in good form but I didn't expect them to win. I thought they might run well.
"We've had three winners quite recently now, which is very welcome because we went a long period with little return of winners. We just had to be patient.
"Celestial Fashion likes to bowl along. She's settled down and has improved from it. The MacDonald family couldn't be here but they're delighted with Adveram. It's his first win. He's a bit stronger this season and has improved."
Skelton hat-trick
Dan Skelton sent five runners to Ayr and had three winners. Brother and champion jockey hopeful Harry was on board all three odds-on shots, starting with Country Mile in the 2m novice hurdle. The last two races went to the Skeltons with Home Free in the 2m½f handicap chase and Dalston Lad in the bumper.
