Trainer Eric McNamara continues sensational form with double at Down Royal
Fresh from saddling five winners during the Listowel harvest festival last week, trainer Eric McNamara continued his phenomenal run of form by striking with both of his runners.
Having finished runner-up at the Galway festival, Future Cutlet kicked off a 20-1 double for the stable when showing an excellent attitude to get off the mark at the fourth attempt in the 7f maiden at odds of 9-4, holding on by half a length from the Andy Oliver-trained Sweet Thing.
Winning jockey Billy Lee told Racing TV: "I thought he won well. I had to make him work in the last furlong to get there, and he'll probably get further in time."
Durable and versatile handicapper Londonofficecallin maintained McNamara's excellent strike-rate – that's now seven winners from 27 runners in the last fortnight – by landing the 1m5f handicap in authoritative fashion with Wayne Lordan in the saddle at odds of 11-2.
The seven-year-old improved plenty from his seasonal reappearance at Sligo last month to run out a commanding winner from Morse.
O'Brien at the double
Joseph O'Brien and Dylan Browne McMonagle combined for a double on the card with 9-2 shot State Of Joy narrowly getting up to deny Response Finale at odds of 9-1 in the 7f fillies' maiden, before 5-2 favourite Little Lady Lucy justified plenty of market support in the 1m2½f handicap when staying on strongly to score by two and a quarter lengths.
