Tour Ovalie puts in a career best to land feature for father-daughter team
Tour Ovalie produced a career-best performance to land the feature 2m mares’ handicap hurdle for Evan Williams.
The Andrew Strong-owned five-year-old was given a well-judged ride by regular jockey Isabel Williams, daughter of the trainer, to pounce after the last and score by two and a quarter lengths.
Tour Ovalie has finished out of the first four just once in her last ten starts and should have more to offer for connections.
The winning trainer said: "She's been going the right way lately and that was very pleasing. She's improved with time – she used to be a bit hot but she has learned to race the right way.
"We've always had plenty of belief in her and she's a smashing mare for the owners as she's so consistent. Isabel gets on well with her and we'll quietly step up in grade."
Dream delivers
Dreaming Blue improved on last year’s third in the Corrie Cup to strike in the 3m1f handicap chase for Anthony Honeyball.
Rex Dingle’s mount gained a third chase win from his last four starts by a length and a quarter.
In-form rider
Conditional Ned Fox has now ridden four winners from his last six rides after landing the 2m novice handicap chase for boss Venetia Williams aboard aboard Ostrava Du Berlais.
The six-year-old mare built on her promising second over fences at Warwick last month with a ten-length success. Williams enjoyed an across-the-cards double when Cloudy Glen landed the veterans’ chase at Haydock under Charlie Deutsch.
