Two retirements in one day as winners Foreseeable Future and Catterick specialist Redrosezorro sign off in style
Foreseeable Future and Redrosezorro signed off in style with victories on their final starts in the 5f amateur riders’ handicap and 6f handicap.
The Ruth Carr-trained Foreseeable Future gained a ninth win by half a length under Charli Parker, who has a 2-7 record since taking out her licence in August.
Carr described Foreseeable Future as a “big, handsome horse” and he will be joining Emelia Abbishaw, who works for the trainer, with the intention of competing in Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) shows.
Carr said: “We were going to finish him at the end of the year and the owners were kind enough to run him one more time under Charli and the old boy has gone out on a high.
“He’s been my ride at home for the last few years. He’s had very bad feet, so plenty of credit must go to my brother and our farrier Richard [Clark], but apart from that he’s been very straightforward. He’s been a pleasure to train."
The Chris Kellett-trained Redrosezorro, who spent most of his career with Eric Alston, gained what is believed to be a record ninth course success under Connor Beasley. He will be staying at the Lancashire yard and similarly will be aimed at RoR shows.
Kellett said: "It's a lovely way for him to finish and one of his owners Kirsty [Raven] is here celebrating her birthday. He loves to dictate races at this track and I'm told he's the first horse to win nine races at Catterick."
