'The horses couldn’t be in any better form' - Joe Tizzard's good run continues with Ilovethenightlife
Joe Tizzard’s fine run of form continued when Ilovethenightlife got off the mark over fences at the second attempt in the 2m4½f mares’ handicap chase.
The six-year-old had been dropped 2lb to her last winning mark of 124, which came over hurdles at Plumpton in January, after finishing third on her chasing debut at Worcester last month.
Sacre Coeur made a bold bid when attempting to emulate last Monday’s front-running success at Plumpton under a 7lb penalty but lost out by a neck to Ilovethenightlife, given a well-judged ride by Brendan Powell.
Tizzard, whose JPR One landed Exeter’s feature Haldon Gold Cup on Friday, was not at the track but the trainer’s father Colin, told Racing TV: “She’s a gorgeous-looking mare and she probably hasn’t won enough races.
“The horses couldn’t be in any better form so it’s time to run them now. I did say that to Joe because, for goodness' sake, it won’t always last like this.”
Tizzard’s other runner, Honey Jack, was fourth in the 3m½f novice handicap hurdle won by the Jennie Candlish-trained Magical Arthur.
Winning rider Gavin Sheehan completed a double, having helped Jamie Snowden’s Climbing to a first win over fences on his fourth attempt in the 2m4½f novice handicap chase.
Brilliant Bowen
Sean Bowen made it six wins from his last 11 rides when his sole mount Pyramid Place struck on his second start for Olly Murphy in the feature Pertemps Hurdle qualifier.
