Freyabella and Azets captured the "highs and lows of racing" for trainer Jane Chapple-Hyam, as success in the opener was followed by an unlucky second in the next.

Two-year-old Freyabella landed the 5f novice to continue the fruitful partnership of Chapple-Hyam and Robert Tart, the filly securing her second course-and-distance win on the bounce by a short head from Lady Fantasia.

Chapple-Hyam and Tart lost their chance of a quickfire double when a slow blindfold removal and bad start left Azets with lots of ground to make up in the mile handicap.

The pair trailed far behind the field before rallying in impressive fashion to finish runner-up to Fox Leicester, beaten a length and a quarter.

"He's done it once before at Lingfield," Chapple-Hyam said of the five-year-old Azets. "He gets his head down low when the gates open and the jockey can't get the blindfold off unless they have extra long arms.

"It was a shame not to get the double but that's the highs and lows of racing. He flew home; it's just one of those things in racing you can't predict."

The Newmarket-based trainer added: "Chelmsford has been very lucky for me this season and I'm happy that it's just down the road from me – I can be back for evening stables."

Karl Burke turns on the style

Stylish Performer lived up to his name with a classy success in the feature 7f handicap under Joe Fanning, with the odds-on and previously unbeaten Mutafawwig finishing fifth.

The three-year-old winner was following up a course-and-distance success in August to complete an across-the-cards double for trainer Karl Burke, with Fast Response having won at Musselburgh.
