'That was pretty easy, wasn't it?' - The Reverend has connections singing his praises after impressive win
Sprint Cup-winning trainer William Haggas's terrific record in the £100,000 1m4f handicap continued with The Reverend's impressive victory.
The son of Lope De Vega thrived in first-time cheekpieces to score by three lengths, which gave the trainer a third win in the race's last four runnings. It was also his fourth win in the contest in the last decade.
"That was pretty easy, wasn't it? I'd say he's pretty good," winning rider David Probert told Sky Sports Racing.
"He over-travelled to the two-furlong pole and I only had to ask him to quicken to get to the leaders and then he extended well. He's a smart performer and there's still more to come."
It was a return to winning ways for the three-year-old and Probert hopes he could be another star for owners Tony Bloom and Ian McAleavy.
He added: "William wanted to put the cheekpieces on to show the true ability he has and he just seemed to be finding his way. With age he'll be even better."
Probert was also successful on Woolhampton in the 5f handicap.
Fresh finally wins again
Fresh survived a stewards' inquiry to end a two-year losing run with a fourth track success in the 6f handicap.
Winning rider Billy Loughnane said: "It was a tight enough gap, but he likes a bit of hustle and bustle and I didn't think there was any issues."
Leavy landmark
Joe Leavy notched his first win for trainer Ralph Beckett on Grey's Monument in the 7f handicap. Beckett doubled up with Fair Point in the mile fillies' handicap.
