Winning hurdler Westerninthepark made a successful switch to chasing when landing the 2m5f handicap chase to keep Olly Muphy and Sean Bowen on a roll.

A previous outing in a point-to-point stood the six-year-old in good stead on his first start for Murphy when he came from off the pace to account for outsider As Tears Go By by 14 lengths.

The well-backed 8-13 favourite (from evens) won two hurdles and a bumper for Milton Harris and then Anthony Charlton before joining Murphy over the summer.

Murphy said: "Westerninthepark is a nice horse and jumped very well for a newcomer. The race fell apart a bit late on but he was well on top at the finish and that was a perfect start over fences."

He added: "Milton Harris did a fantastic job by looking after him over hurdles and it looks as though it is paying off."

Silver grabs gold

Silver Thorn won on his debut over jumps in the 2m6f maiden hurdle for Tom Bellamy and Emma Lavelle. The grey, who was placed in one of his two bumpers last year, was backed into 9-4 favouritism (from 4 in the morning) before holding off Carrig Kate by three and thee-quarter lengths.

Twiston-Davies suspended after win

Sam Twiston-Davies received a seven-day suspension after steering Glynn Brae home on his debut for his father Nigel in the 2m½f maiden hurdle.

Twiston-Davies was cautioned for careless riding after allowing the 11-10 favourite to drift across eventual second Lud'or, partnered by Harry Cobden, on the run-in.
