Instant Gambler maintained his perfect record since returning from more than a year and a half out injured with an effortless win in the 3m2f novice handicap chase.

The Alexandra Dunn-trained eight-year-old had been off for 565 days before a shock 25-1 course-and-distance success last month.

Sent off the 11-8 market leader this time, he sent favourite backers home happy with a nine-length triumph under Adam Wedge.

"We're delighted. He's a lovely horse and Adam has ridden him fantastically since he's come back to the track. It's really given him confidence," Dunn said.

"It's been great for all of the staff here who looked after him. They've done incredibly well and it's paying dividends, we couldn't be happier.

"He's a very special horse to us. He had just one injury, but it needed time to settle and we wanted to be cautious with him. We'll be making sure we enjoy today first before we think about what happens next."

Wedge later doubled up on the Christian Williams-trained Catboy in the second division of the 2m1½f novice handicap hurdle.

Fine form

Amateur jockey Alex Chadwick continued his terrific season in the saddle with Honneur D'Ajonc's success in the 2m1½f handicap hurdle.

The seven-year-old's two-and-a-half-length win took Chadwick's strike-rate this campaign to a fine 28 per cent, with seven victories from 25 rides.

Landmark winner

Amateur rider Robbie David enjoyed his first winner under rules in Britain when landing the second division of the 3m2f handicap hurdle on No Way Pedro.
