Four weeks can be a very long time in racing, particularly for a sprinter, and it has certainly seen quite a turn around in the fortunes of popular grey Magical Memory.

The pride and joy of Kennet Valley Thoroughbreds beat only one rival in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot, but he has put that disappointment behind him in no uncertain terms, following a short-head win in a conditions race at Haydock with a smooth Group 3 defeat of Perfect Angel in the bet365 Hackwood Stakes, which prompted a flying dismount from Frankie Dettori.

The five-year-old, who was down the field in the 2014 Super Sprint, was thought unlikely to relish conditions which had deteriorated considerably since Friday's meeting, but Charlie Hills is having to revise his opinions.
