Cheveley Park Stud’s Anna Swan drifted to 33-1 (from 20) with Betfair Sportsbook and Paddy Power for the Fillies’ Mile at Newmarket on October 11 despite maintaining her unbeaten record in the 7f fillies’ conditions stakes.

The Sir Michael Stoute-trained juvenile justified 2-11 favouritism when making all for a two-length success under William Buick.

Bookmakers took differing views on her Fillies’ Mile credentials, with race sponsors bet365 cutting her to 14-1 (from 18).

Stoute’s assistant James Savage said: “She has the Fillies’ Mile entry and would definitely stay. There’s plenty of stamina in her family, but there are other options for her, including the Oh So Sharp Stakes on the same card. William was very complimentary about her and she showed she's versatile with the ground.”

Witness delivers

Witness Stand continued his fine form with a first Listed success in the Dubai Duty Free Cup.

The Bronte Collection-owned three-year-old backed up recent handicap efforts at Goodwood with a three-length win under Kieran Shoemark and could be aimed at the Challenge Stakes at Newmarket on October 11.

Shoemark said: “His last two runs had been career bests and this was another big step up. He’s not overly big but he has a big heart and is versatile regarding conditions.”

Regal a name to note

Regal Ulixes added his name to the honour roll of the Haynes, Hanson & Clark Novice Stakes with a length-and-three-quarter win.

It was a first victory on his second start for Oisin Murphy’s mount, who is owned by Gary Gillies and trained by Andrew Balding.

Balding said on Sky Sports Racing: “He’s potentially quite good and we’ve always liked him at home. It was a bit of a muddling race, but he got the job done and has a future. He should go on next year so we’ll likely keep him back for then.”

Treble up

Clive Cox celebrated a 919-1 treble with three winning two-year-olds.

Cox struck with two newcomers in Shameful, ridden by Jim Crowley, and Fast Track Harry, the mount of Rossa Ryan, in the two divisions of the 6f maiden before Crowley steered Aysgarth to a nose success in the 7f nursery.

Ryan also landed a double when winning the 1m4f fillies' handicap on the Alan King-trained Loughville.
