Shine On Brendan saunters to victory as Jim Goldie is back on track after hip operation
Jim Goldie was back on a racecourse for the first time since having a hip operation, and his return was a successful one as the winningmost trainer at the track this season saw Shine On Brendan land the 1m½f handicap.
The 100-30 shot sauntered clear to win by two and a half lengths under Kaiya Fraser to make it 17 winners at the course this season for Goldie, at an impressive 20 per cent strike-rate.
Goldie's operation meant he missed the Ayr Gold Cup meeting for the first time in 30 years last week, but he was in good spirits after the victory.
The trainer told Racing TV: "Everything dropped right for him so we're happy. This is one of my favourite courses and things couldn't have gone much better this season. It's been brilliant.
"I'm not doing too bad. The recovery has gone well, which is good, and I'm looking forward to a pain-free future."
Cash gamble landed
A gamble on Stash The Cash from 9-4 in the morning to an SP of 5-6 was rewarded when the Tim Easterby-trained sprinter bolted up by a length in the 5f handicap to follow up last week's course-and-distance success.
Solvency strikes
Newmarket-based trainer Alice Haynes enjoyed a second winner at the course this season when Solvency made a successful debut in the 5f juvenile maiden under Hollie Doyle.
The Ardad colt, who was sent off the 5-4 joint-favourite, quickened impressively clear to beat Hi Lord by a length and a quarter.
