Peter and Michael Bowen enjoyed their biggest win since becoming a training duo this season when Flying Fortune secured a hat-trick in the £70,000 Dragonbet Fixed Brush Hurdle Series Final.

The five-year-old qualified for the race, a novice handicap over two and a half miles, with successes at Market Rasen and over today's course and distance, and scooped the lucrative prize by a length and a half under Peter's son and Michael's brother James. They also saddled the third, Letterston Lily.

"She's been a star and looks like a different mare since we first got her. She's getting better and better," Michael Bowen said.

"It's definitely our biggest win together. It'd be great if we could have more contests like this and she'll go to the Silver Trophy next at Chepstow. She's earned her place in a race like that."

He added: "The third should become a lovely horse as well. We only ran her because it was such a big race and it'll be about next spring for her. She could be an exciting filly."

The Bowens doubled up when the Shane Fenelon-ridden Razzo Italiano landed the 2m conditional jockeys' handicap hurdle.

Hometown hero

Hometown Boy continued his fine resurgence with a battling victory in the 2m7f novice chase.

The Stuart Edmunds-trained nine-year-old easily got off the mark over fences at the track in June but had to fight back this time to deny Coco Mademoiselle by a head.

Special win

On the day 2002 Grand National hero Bindaree died, Nigel, Willy and Sam Twiston-Davies enjoyed a poignant winner with Potters Charm in the 2m4f maiden hurdle.
