Bint Al Karama, a 1,000gns buy at the Tattersalls July sale this summer, struck on her British debut for Iain Jardine in the 1m1f seller.

The four-year-old filly was successful at two when trained by Andreas Wohler in Germany and finished third at Krefeld in June.

Andrew Mullen’s mount received weight from her rivals and ran out a convincing winner by three and a quarter lengths.

Jardine said: “She won in nice style and I’m pleased to have kept hold of her. She looked a reasonable filly for the money at the sales so we took a chance and we’re hopeful she’ll win again. She has a nice pedigree and might even make a broodmare.”

Bint Al Karama completed a double for Jardine, who landed the 7f handicap with The Gay Blade under Oisin Orr.

Jardine said: “The Gay Blade is not a bad little horse at his level. He likes it around the likes of Hamilton and Musselburgh and is pretty consistent.”

The Gay Blade was the second leg of a 60-1 treble for Orr, who took his tally to a career-best 66 winners for the season. He also struck on the Richard Fahey-trained Stormy Impact in the 5f fillies’ novice and stablemate True Nation in the mile handicap.

Super strike-rate

Archie Watson boosted his impressive course strike-rate to 34 per cent (13-38) when Feeraas gained a first win in the 7f nursery.

Paul Mulrennan’s mount kept on best to deny favourite Cashlyn Cavalier by a short head.
