'She gave me a totally different feel today' - Darragh O'Keeffe continues fine form with a Thurles treble
Darragh O'Keeffe continued his fine form as he enjoyed a 109-1 treble on the card, bringing his tally to nine over the last fortnight and his strike-rate up to 41 per cent over that period.
O'Keeffe struck in the 2m½f handicap chase when the Jimmy Finn-trained Turbo defied a 23-month absence to score in commanding style, powering home to defeat Someone's Wish by three and a half lengths at odds of 16-1.
Grooveykindoflove followed up in the 2m7f maiden hurdle, relishing the step up in trip after finishing runner-up three times over shorter. The five-year-old seems a nice prospect for the Henry de Bromhead stable as she turned on the afterburners after the last to stretch eight and a half lengths clear of Fillusin and justify even-money favouritism.
O'Keeffe told Racing TV: "It was ideal that someone made the running as I didn't feel she was the most natural front-runner at Roscommon. She jumped really well and picked up well to the line and had no problem staying.
"She gave me a total different feel today compared to Roscommon when we went slow and she maybe got tapped for a little toe."
O'Keeffe partnered another winning favourite in the 2m handicap hurdle when 9-4 chance Romella bounced back after two days off to run out a four-length winner from Tasmanian Girl.
Drumgill relishes fences
The John Ryan-trained Drumgill put in a useful performance to take the 2m6½f beginners' chase at 12-1 on his debut over fences, taking to his new discipline well to defeat 4-9 favourite Jigoro by six and a half lengths.
