Sam Thomas continues his good run and has Betfair Hurdle in mind for impressive 14-length winner
Trainer Sam Thomas nominated the Betfair Hurdle as a likely target for Celtic Dino after he romped home by 14 lengths in the 1m7f maiden hurdle.
The dual bumper winner was sent to the front from the start and travelled comfortably under Dylan Johnston before bounding clear of Ma Shantou from two out.
"He's still got a lot to learn and, as much schooling as he's done at home, it's nice to see them a bit green in the race like that, as you know they're going to come on for it," Thomas told Racing TV.
"He's a real top-of-the-ground horse. He pointed his toe there and jumped great and I was pleased just to see him have a good look.
"Dylan gave him a fantastic ride. It's a lot of pressure on a young lad. He's a top jockey and hopefully he can keep going."
On possible targets for the five-year-old, Thomas added: "The Betfair Hurdle would be the obvious plan. He'd need a run every month to qualify, as you need four runs, but that would be the sort of thing we'd be looking at ideally."
Johnston doubled up in the 1m7f handicap hurdle on Princess T for Neil Mulholland, who was also completing a double having landed the 3m1f handicap chase with Lord Accord.
Derham double
Harry Derham made it four winners from his last four runners when taking both divisions of the 2m5½f handicap hurdle.
Far Sight opened his account over hurdles at the seventh time of asking when taking division one by nine and a half lengths under Paul O'Brien before Victoria Malzard struck on her first ride at the track aboard Diplomatie in division two.
