Sadness of losing poor Mohaayed is summed up in Dan Skelton's heartfelt words
Warwick had the main attractions but it was Market Rasen where the heart sank and soared.
Poor dear Mohaayed is no more. One of the early plans for this piece was to celebrate the first running of the long-distance hurdle in which On The Blind Side and Lil Rockerfeller fought out such a splendid finish. Both horses deserve to be applauded. So, too, does the marvellous servant to Dan Skelton, Bridget Andrews and owner June Watts who failed to return to the place that had been home throughout the jumping phase of his career.
The race provided the main interest on a card upgraded from its normal Thursday position due to there being five Saturdays this particular January. It was the sort of classy little event that mid-tier tracks often had back when the ITV7 was in its first incarnation. Time will tell if the contest continues – it ought to given its inaugural line-up – but for Mohaayed there are now no future plans, just many happy memories.
