Run Wild dominates from the front but will not be going up in trip
John Gosden has sent out some top-class performers in the Listed Pretty Polly Stakes in recent years, including 2014 winner Taghrooda, who went on to claim the Oaks later that season.
But a step up in trip does not await his most recent winner, Run Wild.
The restrictions on those attending the meeting meant there were no ante-post quotes from bookmakers floating around the winner's enclosure following the filly's dominant success. But had there been the paper slips would have torn up immediately following Gosden's debrief.
"We'll stay at a mile and a quarter," the trainer said. "We're not going to charge off to an Oaks or anything."
Gosden's thoughts rather rendered any ante-post movements as moot, with Paddy Power initially going 8-1 (from 33), though she was then pushed out to 12-1 by the bookmaker, in line with other firms.
The most experienced runner in the field with six runs at two, Run Wild was quickly into her stride for Oisin Murphy and the pair poured it on from the front.
Gosden added: "She's not the kind of filly you take back and fiddle about with, she just loves to use her stride, which she did to good effect. She had plenty of experience and put it to good use."
Murphy was also of the opinion that going over further would not suit Run Wild, and said: "I wouldn't think 12 furlongs would suit. She's massive and I don't think Epsom would play to her strengths."
Queen Daenerys and Trefoil did manage to erode the leader's advantage late on, suggesting they could step up in distance, with the rearranged Investec Oaks just under a month away.
